On September 22 and 23 2006, Portoroz, a charming seaside resort at the Adriatic coast of Slovenia and only miles away from the Italian border, will be the venue for the fifth international conference of The Treasure Within educational network. The conference will be organised by VSKO, the Treasure Within network coordinator and the Belgian market leader in educational support services, in close cooperation with the partners of the BASICS Comenius 2.1 project:

Target Audience

The conference is for all those who play a leading role in school improvement endeavours: head teachers, middle managers, advisors, consultants, trainers, CPD providers, teachers whose commitment goes beyond the boundaries of their subject area, and all colleagues who support pupils’ learning in schools.

Conference Theme

Keynotes, seminars, workshops and round table sessions will explore how schools can successfully initiate and implement change processes, whether imposed from outside or generated from within the school as an answer to a felt need for improvement. The conference will demonstrate how collective learning is the key to successful change and hence to school improvement.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for participants to meet colleagues from a wide range of EU countries and to discuss and reflect on topics of mutual interest.
A book reflecting the conference themes will be presented to the delegates.

Venue

The conference will take place at the Grand Hotel Metropol ***** in Portoroz, a seaside resort, on the Adriatic coast of Slovenia. Accommodation will be provided in a choice of hotels of the Metropol Group, all within 100m from the conference venue.

Participants who stay at one of these hotels, will get free access to the Grand Hotel Metropole indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna and other facilities.

Registrations

Registrations can be made by using the registration form attached. We draw your attention that it is possible to request financial support (Comenius 22C grants) from the National Socrates Agencies . In case of an application, a reference should be made to the fact that this is a conference of a Comenius 3 Network, The TreasureWithin, ref. nr 90721-CP-2-2001-1- COMENIUS-C3 . It is not to be expected that grants will be provided massively. Individual participants (i.e. those who do not get a discount through group booking) registering before April 1 st get a € 20 discount. They pay € 130 instead of € 150 for the conference package.
